Work with the GM to determine what items your character will begin with. If using a character archetype from a module, refer to the archetype details for starting items.
Items must be declared equipped or worn to use, and the GM will ask for the relevant attribute roll. Work with the GM to determine if an item not on the list below is available. The meta dice table determines availability, qualities, quantities, and thresholds of items acquired and fabricated.
Progression points can be spent to increase item thresholds to a maximum of 12.
2 standard items can be equipped at a time. 1 large item can be equipped at a time. Up to 6 items can be worn at a time
Items thresholds can be replenished with resource units (RUs)
Upgrading Items
An item can be upgraded through progression. For example, a Cloaking Device with Upgrade x2 can be upgraded from hiding 1 person to 2 people when a progression point is spent, and from 2 people to 3 if another point is spent. An item with Upgrade x2 can only be upgraded twice. Upgrades can increase durations, dice roll outcomes, number of uses, etc. Work with the GM to find interesting ways to upgrade an item. Upgrades require resource units at the GM’s discretion.
Note: Once a basic frame item has been made special, it can no longer be upgraded.
3 non-consecutive rolls of Failure or worse causes wear and tear and lowers an item's threshold by 1 point. Environmental hazards can also lower an item’s threshold. Other circumstances may lower a threshold at the GM's discretion, e.g. point blank damage, blunt impacts, tampering, etc. Once an item's threshold reaches 0 it is broken and must be repaired. Broken items can be reduced to resource units.
Some items may give boosts and boons or incur hindrances and banes, refer to the item details.
Item Boosts
An item may give a temporary boost to other items, e.g., a sharpening stone, metal plating, etc. These boosts can add additional damage to attacks, negate wounds on defense, or increase an attribute stat Other boosts can be improvised and added to an item at the GM's discretion. Refer to the meta dice table for temporary boost durations.
